Andy Clyde
Born in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland, Andy Clyde was
an on screen sidekick to such western stars as Hopalong Cassidy and Whip
Wilson. Born into a family of actors, Clyde got his start in film in the
silent film era under famed Keystone Cops director Mack Sennett. His
hundred’s of film roles in both shorts and features lasted into the mid
1950s when he switched over to television. He played “George MacMichael” on
The Real McCoys, and “Cully Wilson” on Lassie. Clyde finished his career
playing “Grandpa Jim Anderson” on the short-lived TV series No Time for
Sergeants.
He made guest appearance’s on Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Rin Tin Tin, Circus Boy
and many other TV westerns. Just a Few of the Movies He played a role in are
Son of the Prairie(1950), Gunslingers (1950), Cherokee Uprising (1950) and
Outlaws of Texas (1951).
Andy Passed away on May 18 1967 and was buried in Glendale California.
